French language education in

The Franco-Ontarian network is comprised of 12 school boards throughout the province; 8 of these are Catholic and 4 are public (secular), with 472 schools serving 112, 350 students from kindergarten to grade 12.  Services offered by the French-language school boards include :

  • early years programs and services
  • extracurricular activities and summer camps
  • support services for students and families, including newcomers
  • advanced French proficiency programs and international language courses
  • special curriculum for newcomers
  • internships in professional and international environments;
  • student achievement support and career choice programs
  • cultural and community engagement activities

The Association des conseils scolaires des écoles publiques de l’Ontario (ACÉPO) represents the trustees of the four (4) public French-language school boards in Ontario. The Association franco-ontarienne des conseils scolaires catholiques represents the trustees of the eight (8) Catholic French-language school boards in Ontario.

French-language services in Ontario related to postsecondary education, literacy and adult continuing education are provided by the French-language university, Université de l’Ontario français, and two public French-language colleges, Collège Boréal and La Cité, as well as nine bilingual or French-language institutions that offer university programs.
