French language education in
Manitoba

The Franco-Manitoban School Division has 24 schools with more than 5,800 students from kindergarten to grade 12 as well as an adult learning centre. No other school board in this province offers full-time French-language education. French-language teaching is available in 23 municipalities throughout the province. Services offered by the Franco-Manitoban School Division include:

  • Early childhood services provided in partnership with the community at most of its schools
  • An exchange program oriented towards culture and sports
  • A leadership program for teenagers
  • Free school bus transportation

French services in Manitoba related to postsecondary education, literacy and adult continuing education are provided by the Franco-Manitoban Learning Centre, Pluri-elles, a non-profit organization based in Winnipeg, and the Université de Saint-Boniface, based as well in Winnipeg.
