Manitoba is famous for its Festival du Voyageur, the largest francophone winter festival in North America.

Manitoba has a French-speaking population of 3.2%.

The Division scolaire franco-manitobaine (DSFM) has 25 schools attended by more than 6,000 students from kindergarten to grade 12. The DSFM is the only school board in this province to offer the French as a first language program. French-language teaching is available in 23 municipalities throughout the province. Services offered by the French-language school board include:

  • Early childhood services provided in partnership with the community at most of its schools
  • An exchange program oriented towards culture and sports
  • A leadership program for high school students
  • Free school bus transportation.
