In the heart of the Annapolis Valley lies Grand-Pré National Historic Site, a commemoration of the important contribution of the Acadian people and their deportation.

In Nova Scotia, 3.2% of the population speaks French.

The Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP) has 23 schools attended by 6,779 students from pre-school to grade 12. The CSAP is the only school board in Nova Scotia to offer the French as a first language program within this province. The school board serves nine municipalities across the province. Services offered by the French-language school board include:

  • Full-time preschool program
  • Childcare services in some of its schools in partnership with the community
  • Educational assistants for students with special needs
  • Educational content focusing on students’ identity building
  • Various cultural activities promoting French language and Acadian education
  • Free school bus transportation.
